Roger Durling has been the Executive Director of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for 18 years. During his tenure, SBIFF has garnered a reputation among industry professionals as one of the top film festivals in the United States. Roger teaches Film Studies at Santa Barbara City College, was awarded the 2004 Santa Barbara Citizen of the Year Award, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Peddie School and elected as its Vice-Chair.
He programmed a series of panels and conversations for the American Pavilion at the 2007 Cannes International Film Festival, and started and oversees SBIFF’s educational programs including Mike’s Field Trip to the Movies, Film Studies, and Rosebud.
He recently published a book entitled CINEMA IN FLUX – A YEAR OF CONNECTING THROUGH FILM and was appointed by the Santa Barbara City Council to be a member of the State Street Advisory Committee to develop a Master Plan for the downtown corridor.
