Jane Habermann served on the SBCC Foundation board of directors from 2000 to 2012 before she was elected as an emeritus board member, and she and her husband Norm are members of the SBCC Foundation’s Legacy Circle. They focus their philanthropic energies on supporting education and healthcare, and are enthusiastic about investing in Santa Barbara City College because it makes higher education accessible to everyone.
Habermann started working with nonprofits shortly after moving to Santa Barbara. She was a longtime board member of VNA Health (formerly Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care), which provides comprehensive in-home healthcare to residents in Santa Barbara County. She continues to be actively involved with their mission.
Jane was voted Volunteer of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2007, and was named a Health Care Hero in 2008 by the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics. She was honored as Woman of the Year in 2010 by the Santa Barbara Foundation for her longtime volunteerism and commitment to the community, and she served as a member of the Santa Barbara Foundation board of trustees. As part of their commitment to education, Jane and Norm also support the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara.
